Harvest Hill is Sakai’s answer to the classic Japanese farm park: rolling green grounds south of Osaka where kids feed animals, families picnic under seasonal flowers, and the city feels much further away than it actually is. It is the sort of unhurried day out that rarely makes tourist itineraries, which is exactly its appeal.

Animals, flowers and open space

The park keeps sheep, goats, capybara, rabbits and horses, with feeding and close contact sessions through the day, and its flower fields roll through the calendar from spring blooms to autumn colour. Add go karts, boats, a hillside slide and other pocket money attractions and children can fill an entire day without repeating themselves. There are craft experiences too, including sausage and butter making sessions that book out early on busy weekends.

Eat and drink like a local

Harvest Hill has its own dairy on site, and the soft serve ice cream made from it has a deserved reputation. Barbecue restaurants and food stalls handle lunch, or you can bring your own and claim a lawn. Weekdays outside school holidays are wonderfully quiet.

Getting there

From Namba in central Osaka, take the Nankai Koya Line and connecting Semboku line to Izumigaoka Station, then a direct bus to the park gates. Drivers will find ample parking, and the trip from central Osaka takes under an hour either way.
