Osaka Castle Tickets

Osaka Castle is the city’s great landmark, a 16th century fortress rebuilt into a genuinely good museum with a top-floor observation deck looking across the moats and the modern skyline. The surrounding park is one of Osaka’s favourite spots year round and turns spectacular in cherry blossom season.

What the ticket covers

The park and the photogenic exterior are free to wander. The ticket gets you inside the main keep: eight floors of well-presented history covering Hideyoshi and the siege of Osaka, topped by the open-air deck. Skip-the-line e-tickets are worth having in blossom season and on weekends, when the counter queue can eat half an hour of your day.

Making a morning of it

Give it two hours: the approach across the moat bridges, the keep, and a loop of the park. The Nishinomaru Garden, ticketed separately, has the classic castle-over-moat photo angle. Street food carts cluster near the main gates if you time it around lunch.

Getting there

Osakajokoen Station on the JR Osaka Loop Line lands you at the park’s edge, covered by the JR Pass, with Tanimachi 4-chome on the metro slightly closer to the keep itself. From Osaka Station it is about ten minutes on the Loop Line.
