Sapporo TV Tower Tickets

The Sapporo TV Tower has watched over Odori Park since the 1950s, and its observation deck remains the classic way to see the city laid out in a grid running to the mountains. It is not the tallest lookout in Sapporo, but it is the best placed one, standing at the eastern end of the park with the city’s most famous view stretching straight ahead.

The view down Odori

From the deck, Odori Park runs away beneath you like a green carpet through the centre of the city, framed by office towers and ending at the mountains beyond. It is a fine view year round, but it becomes something special during the Snow Festival in February, when the park below fills with giant snow sculptures, and on summer evenings when beer gardens take over the lawns. Night visits show off Sapporo’s street grid in lights.

The tower itself

The tower leans happily into retro charm, complete with a mascot and souvenir shops, and a visit rarely needs more than thirty to forty five minutes. That makes it easy to slot between Sapporo’s other central sights, with the clock tower, Tanukikoji arcade and the nightlife of Susukino all within walking distance.

Getting there

The tower stands beside Odori Station, where the Namboku, Tozai and Toho subway lines meet, one stop from Sapporo Station. From JR Sapporo Station it is also a pleasant ten to fifteen minute walk straight down the main street.
