More Services

In green class there are extra services offered by the staff, including a drink during the trip, an ice cream on the Kyushu Shinkansen line, and a hot towel (oshibori). The windows are larger so you can enjoy the scenery pass by and relax while you travel in style. You will also find smoking areas in the Green Cars.

Definitely Get a Seat

If you’re going to travel during the peak hours, or the busier times of the year (May/August/September), the Green Car will have more seating available as they are not as busy as other parts of the train.

Where are the Green Cars?

Train dependent, there are one to three Green Cars per train. You will see a green clover to indicate that the carriage is the Green Car. These are usually right at the front to limit the number of people passing through while looking for toilets.

The Tokaido-San’yo line places the carriages close to the stairs to limit the amount of walking you will have to do on the platform.

Check the platform floor, which will usually have an indication of the Green Car location.
