Tips for the journey

Take the Sakura with a pass

The Sakura is fully covered by the Japan Rail Pass and only a little slower than the Nozomi. Pass holders travel at no extra cost.

Reserve the popular trains

The Mizuho and Sakura have fewer non reserved cars than the Nozomi, so reserve ahead in peak season.

Inland Sea views

West of Okayama the Sanyo line runs close to the Seto Inland Sea, with sea and island views between the tunnels.

Easy for Miyajima

Hiroshima Station connects to the trams for the Peace Park and the ferry pier for Miyajima and its floating torii gate.
