Nidec Kyoto Tower Tickets

Nidec Kyoto Tower is the white needle directly opposite Kyoto Station, and its 100 metre observation deck gives the only aerial view of a city that famously bans tall buildings. From up there the grid rolls out to the surrounding hills, with temple roofs breaking the surface like reefs.

Why it earns a stop

Precisely because Kyoto has no other view like it, and because it is unavoidable anyway: two minutes from the station, evening hours, and a deck that catches both the sunset hills and the city lights. Telescopes are free, and the mood after dark is quietly lovely.
