JUNGLIA is Okinawa’s brand new theme park, opened in July 2025 across 60 hectares of genuine Yanbaru jungle in the island’s north. The pitch is nature-immersive rather than tarmac-and-coasters: a Dinosaur Safari through the forest, ziplines and canopy walks, and the Horizon Balloon lifting you 200 metres above the treetops with the East China Sea on the horizon.
Around 22 attractions mix thrill, spectacle and spa: the dinosaur experiences are the headline for families, while the infinity-edge Spa Junglia looking over the jungle is the sleeper hit for adults. Being new and being Okinawa, weekends and Japanese holidays are busy; weekday visits are noticeably calmer. Book dated tickets ahead, and note extras like the balloon and dinner sittings sell separately or need reservations.
The park sits between Nago and Nakijin in the island’s north, about 90 minutes by car from Naha, and close enough to Churaumi Aquarium to pair the two across a two-day northern stay. If you are driving, parking must be reserved in advance. Buses run from Naha and from the mid-island resort strips.
Is it good for young kids? Yes, with a caveat: some jungle attractions carry height limits, while the dinosaur areas land brilliantly with the under-tens.
How long do I need? A full day to cover the attractions without rushing, or a relaxed half day plus spa.
JUNGLIA or Churaumi with one day up north? Do both from a Nago overnight if you can. Forced to choose, Churaumi is the icon, JUNGLIA the adventure.
