ASOBono! is Tokyo’s benchmark indoor playground, a huge softly lit hall inside Tokyo Dome City where children under about six can burn energy safely whatever the weather is doing outside. A sea of balls, climbing structures, toy towns and train tables spread across themed zones, and everything is padded, gated and staffed to Japanese standards of care.

The play zones

The centrepiece is the adventure ocean, a vast ball pit with slides and climbing nets that swallows toddlers whole and returns them grinning. Around it, a pretend market and kitchen zone runs role play at child height, a plaza of rail sets and building blocks caters to focused little engineers, and a fenced baby area gives crawlers their own soft world. Parents sit inside the zones rather than watching from outside, which keeps the experience shared.

Practical notes

Weekends and rainy days get busy, with timed sessions managing numbers, so weekday mornings are the golden hours. Socks for everyone, adults included, are the rule. The Tokyo Dome City location means restaurants, a gentle amusement park and the LaQua shopping complex surround you for the rest of the day.

Getting there

Tokyo Dome City sits beside JR Suidobashi Station on the Chuo-Sobu Line and Korakuen Station on the Marunouchi and Namboku subway lines. ASOBono! is on the dome’s east side, a few minutes from either station.
