VS PARK’s Yokohama branch drops its arena of Japanese variety show challenges into the World Porters mall on the Minato Mirai waterfront, giving the harbour city a place where you can sprint against a virtual beast between shopping and dinner. Sport meets game show

The floor mixes physical challenges with digital trickery: the famous dash against a charging animal projected beside the track, reaction walls, balance duels, mini court sports and rotating novelty games that take minutes each, so groups keep cycling through without queues eating the session. Nothing needs athletic talent; the games are calibrated so a hopeless attempt is at least as entertaining as a good one, which is the real secret of the franchise.

Making a day of Minato Mirai

World Porters puts you between the Cosmo Clock ferris wheel, the Red Brick Warehouses and the Cup Noodles Museum, with the whole waterfront walkable. Wear sneakers for VS PARK, then reward yourself along the harbour promenade as the evening lights come up; Minato Mirai at dusk is one of urban Japan’s best sights.

Getting there

Bashamichi and Minatomirai Stations on the Minatomirai Line are both short walks away, and Sakuragicho on the JR Negishi Line is about ten minutes on foot with a moving walkway for part of the route. From Shibuya, direct Tokyu trains run through to the Minatomirai Line.
